The first team consolidated their position at the top of Division 2 with a hard fought win over a dogged Floreat side at Kingfisher on Sunday 18th June. Brodie Stuart fired home the only goal of the match from close range in the first half. Ballajura were then sitting comfortably in charge of the match and despite some rugged resistance from Floreat, a home win was always on the cards.
The victory followed a creditable draw against Gosnells the previous week and has the Balla boys sitting 3 points clear of Warnbro – who are our next visitors on 2nd July.
That match will be our fourth game in a row against teams in the top half of the table and the boys should be quietly confident of another solid performance and a chance to send yet another message to the rest of Division 2.
The Reserves meanwhile continued their fine form with a 2-1 win thanks to a brace from Jake Cosenza playing in his first match after a layoff with a hamstring injury. This match could/should have produced a lot more goals (mainly from Balla) and with a little more luck, or less luck from the Floreat ‘keeper, Balla could have posted 6 or more on the scoreboard. The Ressies are well placed in 3rd spot in the league, only 2 points off the top.
