Ballajura 3 -3 Kelmscott Roos
Ballajura let a two goal lead slip to draw with their cellar dweller counterparts Kelmscott 3-3 at Kingfisher Reserve on Sunday.
Ballajura were without suspended key duo George Davidson and Ciaron Rogers but welcomed the new signing of Sal Marrapoddi to bolster the frontline.
Marrapoddi opened his Ballajura account on his debut.Kelmscott equalised through their gangly striker in controversial circumstances after a legitimate offside call was turned down but only for the following pass to the striker to tap home was also waved away for offside.
Marrapoddi scored his second though immedietaly after as he cut the ball back onto his right foot and hit a low drive into the bottom corner which bounced off the post and into the back of the outstretched keeper and into the net.
A stunning first half debut was rounded out with a great solo effort that was ferociously struck from the right hand side into the bottom left hand corner.
The second half was a completely different game as Kelmscott pushed to try and bring themselves back into the game. They managed to pull a goal back when a corner found the unmarked Kelmscott player at the back post.
Ballajura then had the chance to seal the game off when Marrapoddi was taken down in the box by Kelmscotts last man only for the referee to fail to give the defender a card at all. The penalty was saved well by the Kelmscott keeper and gave the side a chance to claim an equaliser.
The equaliser came right at the death after a cross was failed to be cleared out in a goalmouth scramble and the oncoming Kelmscott striker was there to strike home.
