Ballajura 1– 5 Gwelup Croatia
Ballajura AFC continue to fail to secure their first win of the season after being thumped 5-1 by Gwelup Croatia at Kingfisher Reserve. Things started off badly for Ballajura as they conceded in the 28th minute when a cross-shot was deflected and somehow fooled everyone to curl round into the back post. Ash Vincent was taken off early into the game with an injury which forced a substitution. Ballajura had dominated the first half and were again failing to take their chances until the 35th minute when Damien Fouracre crossed from the byline for George Davidson to head home.
The second half started off brightly for Ballajura until Gwelup found a bit of luck and the ball fell to their striker who hit a low well timed strike into the bottom corner. Gwelup received a hand in their third goal as Ballajura attempted to clear the ball but it was sent straight into the oncoming attacker and the ball deflected into the back of the net. Gwelup increased the deficit after a good save from Alex Best was then parried into the path of the Gwelup attacker and he placed the ball into the net. Gwelup made sure Ballajura had no chance of a comeback when the Gwelup striker secured a hat trick with a goal reminiscent of his first strike.
