ROUND FOURTEEN

Ballajura 5 – 2 Lynwood

Ballajura made amends for the big loss last week with a resounding 5-2 victory over Lynwood. The side was forced to make changes with Cody Bolton and Rob McDonnell suspended and allowed young guns Dave Agostini and Zaheed Shariff to make their starting debuts for the club.

Things got off to a great start for Ballajura when Tim Hanks notched his eighth goal of the season in the fifth minute with a tap-in after being set up from George Davidson. Ballajura took their foot off the gas and two goals in three minutes from Lynwood gave the side a undeserving lead. Chris Shaw snatched a late equaliser before the break with his first goal for the club after volleying the ball into the net from a Davidson corner kick.

The second half began brightly for Ballajura and fifteen minutes in, Damien Fouracre slotted a goal past the Lynwood keeper after a through ball from Davidson sent him one on one. Hanks made it even tougher for Lynwood to get back into the game after some great work on the wing from Fouracre, allowing Ballajura to force a spilled save from the Lynwood keeper before Hanks beat the keeper. Davidson put the game beyond doubt after a nicely flicked on ball from Hanks sent Davidson through, which he placed passed the keeper with ease.

Ballajura 1 – 0 Lynwood

Ballajura Reserves continued to put the pressure on league leaders South Perth with a gruelling 1 – 0 victory over Lynwood. A solitary goal from striker Chris Nowrojee in the 8th minute managed to seal the crucial win for the Reds. It was Nowrojee’s fourth goal in five games.

A side that was forced to make changes to the line-up performed admirably with makeshift sweeper Alex Bagini playing a pivotal role in keeping a clean sheet along with young goalkeeper Alex Best. Another big positive from the game was Ahmed ‘Billy’ Aden’s return to football after a lengthy layoff on the sidelines.
